SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Social Worker's primary role is to provide social services and assistance to scholars with suspected social emotional disabilities. The Social Worker is required to work in collaboration with teachers, school counselors, and social service agencies to improve the social and psychological functioning of scholars and their families using evidence-based teaching strategies. The social worker must demonstrate the ability to use counseling theory in accordance with district and school policies. The social worker must possess comprehensive knowledge of the community's social service agencies.

Line of Authority/Reports to: Social Worker shall be directly responsible to the Principal, and/or Head of Schools and will work directly with Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's Degree: Social Work (Required)
  • Valid Colorado Special Services Provider License endorsed in area of assignment: School Social Worker
  • Two(2) years of Social Work experience including some school-based experience, working with IEPs
  • CBI Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of the necessary principles and application of theory into practice for effective instruction and positive behavioral supports that are beneficial for implementation with all scholars with disabilities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide positive behavioral support to scholars in a group and an individual setting.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the federal, state, and local mandates governing the determination and delivery of
  • Completes observations and reports pertaining to learning behaviors of scholars.
  • Displays the ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school based staff, scholars, parents and community members.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Classical curricula and learning -OR- a willingness and desire to learn the Classical model of education.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Charlotte Mason’s educational philosophy and methodology -OR- a willingness to better understand Miss Mason’s educational philosophy and methodology.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Common Core Standards -OR- a willingness to learn such standards.
  • Proven leadership ability promoting collaborative decision making.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact community, parents, scholars, administration, instructional staff and office support staff.
  • Strong commitment to supporting and safeguarding the principles of excellence in classical education.
  • Working knowledge of pedagogy, instructional methodology, and curriculum development.
  • Ability to manage conflict resolution with an attitude of humility and service.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Data-Driven Instruction model -OR- a willingness to better understand and learn more of data-driven instruction and assessment decision-making.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Respond to referrals and or reported cases from teachers, administrators, other school personnel, parents, scholars, self, and community agencies (Department of Human Services).
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of every treatment/session delivered to students whether direct or indirect services. Information will be documented into either the current IEP system and/or current Medicaid system. Document all student services who are eligible for Medicaid reimbursement if current DORA license is held. Complete records of students' progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities
  • Create, organize and update case history records and prepare reports, according to deadlines
  • Gather information, investigate and interview clients individually, in families, or in groups, assessing their situations, capabilities, and problems, to determine what services are required to meet their needs (ie. Recommend changes of class(es) or school, special tutoring, or other treatment to effect a remedy)
  • Provide assistance and/or referrals for scholars, families, or staff regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, childcare, or medical care
  • Provide individual casework/case management/counseling to scholars and parents to alleviate conditions, which interfere with the students’ learning and achievement
  • Counsel parents with concerns or problems, interviewing the child and family to determine whether further action is required
  • Develop and review service plans in consultation with students, and perform follow-ups assessing the quantity and quality of services provided
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implement solutions
  • Refer clients to community resources for services such as assessment services to go and how to apply
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
  • Maintain confidentiality per FERPA
